Case study
Theme enhancements that kept the editor workable
Years of one-off theme edits made every update risky. The team needed new sections — without a full theme rebuild.
The problem
Hard-coded Liquid, leftover app snippets, and undocumented customizations meant even small merchandising changes needed a developer. A full theme migration felt too expensive and risky for a busy selling season.
Our approach
We worked on a development theme first: extracted reusable Online Store 2.0 sections and blocks, moved content into metafields the team could edit, fixed accessibility and Core Web Vitals issues, and documented what stayed custom. No big-bang rebuild — just a theme they could run again.
Results
- New landing and collection layouts the team could assemble in the theme editor
- Safer path for future Shopify updates without losing customizations
- Measurable improvement in Largest Contentful Paint on key templates
